Salary Range: $43,193.52 - $82,067.64 (Annually*)
*Anticipated hiring salary at approximately $70,000.00, dependent upon work
experience.

The essential function of the position within the organization is to manage
operations of the Office of the Clerk of the District Court under direction
of the Clerk. The position is responsible for supervising staff; acting on
and issuing orders as directed by the court; responding to and handling
inquiries regarding court policies, procedures and cases; and managing
fiscal, clerical and administrative functions of the Office of the Clerk.
The position works independently, reporting major activities through
periodic meetings.

Education and Training Guidelines:
Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended
educational level on a year-for-year basis and additional relevant education
may substitute for the recommended experience on a year-for-year basis.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, law or a closely related field
and six years of related experience, including extensive knowledge of
operations of the Office of the Clerk of Court and the State Courts System
**Previous court or legal experience is required, including knowledge of the
Florida Appellate Rules. Membership in The Florida Bar helpful, but not
required.
**Experience in Case Management System highly desirable.

for judgment regarding attainment of standard or in selecting appropriate
items, such as computers, peripherals, or software programs, such as word
processing, spreadsheets or custom applications and Case Management System.

Requires some responsibility for safety and health of others and/or for
occasional enforcement of the standards of public safety or health.

Special Comments:
**The Chief Deputy must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to
perform all the duties of the Clerk of Court in his absence. This position
serves as day-to-day supervisor for Clerk's office staff and therefore
should have excellent working knowledge of all personnel rules and
regulations. This position is in constant contact with the Judges and their
staff, other courts throughout the State, attorneys, the general public and
the Office of the State Court's Administrator.
**Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and Web based applications
essential. Knowledge of word processing applications such as Word or Word
Perfect essential. Ability to communicate clearly and work courteously with
co-workers and the public. Ability to exercise discretion and
confidentiality.

The
Worker’s Compensation Unit is currently
soliciting applicants for a Staff Attorney position.
DESCRIPTION:
In 2008, the Florida Legislature authorized the creation of a
specialized Workers’ Compensation Unit at the
First District Court of Appeal. The First District has exclusive
state-wide jurisdiction for all workers’ compensation appeals. Workers’
Compensation Unit Staff Attorneys prepare summaries for cases, which
includes reviewing the case file, summarizing the facts and arguments,
and analyzing the issues involved. Staff Attorneys also attend oral
arguments and case conferences, assist in drafting opinions, review
opinions for content and form prior to their release, do research,
assist with speeches and presentations, and perform any other duties as
assigned by the Chief Judge or Director. Staff Attorneys must have the
ability to reason logically and analytically as many workers’
compensation cases involve complex legal issues and factual matters.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should be in the top ten percent, and must be in the top
quartile, of their class, have excellent writing skills, and devote
great attention to detail. They should be proficient in word processing
and Westlaw usage, and work well independently. Law review or
comparable experience preferred. Attorneys experienced in the practice
of workers’ compensation law are encouraged to apply.
Florida Bar Exam
Required.
SALARY:
The minimum
salary for a new attorney position is $45,556.08, with Florida Bar
membership. The minimum salary for a career attorney position is
$59,607.00; a career attorney has at least five (5) years of
experience. Appointments above the minimum may be made based on
additional experience.
